Chapman on March 4, 1933. Her family lived in Silva, NC until she was a young
teen and then moved to Charlotte where she made her home for the rest of her
life. She passed away on July 19, 2013 at the age of 80.
She graduated from Central High School in Charlotte and the Women’s College
of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she majored in sociology.
She followed her professional calling of being of service to others while
working in the Mecklenburg County Social Services Department. She ended her
career as supervisor of the Aid to Families With Dependent Children Department.
She is survived by her cousin, Elizabeth (Pan) Little Allen of Charlotte and her
second cousins, Mrs. Brad Moretz (Jennifer) of Blowing Rock, NC and Michael
Allen of Black Hawk, CO. It was her wish to be cremated. Her ashes will be
scattered in her beloved mountains of North Carolina. A marker to her memory
will be erected in the cemetery at Wadesboro, NC where her parents are buried.
