Leslie Tate Smith

Mrs. Smith, age 52, of Charlotte passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012 at her residence.

She was born February 18, 1960 in Charlotte, North Carolina the daughter of the late Leonard Charles Tate and Lois Dover Tate. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Leonard Scott Tate.

She graduated from Garinger High School and worked for Herrin Brothers Coal and Ice Company for over twenty years. Leslie was a long time member of Shamrock Drive Baptist Church and was active in her Sunday school class.

Surviving are her husband, Steve Smith; son, Phillip Leonard Smith; nephew, Ronnie Tate and wife Misty; niece, Heather Lynn Tate; great niece, Mya Tate; great nephew, Austin Tate; mother-in-law, Rachel Barton; sister-in-law, Pam Smith; and brothers-in-law, Alan Smith and Bill Smith.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday, May 6, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, May 7, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery.
