Leonard was preceded in death by both his parents; his brother’s, Alfred and Dwight; great-granddaughter, Olivia; son-in-law, Ray Morris and the love of his life, wife of 59 years, Marceil Thornhill Hoyle.
He fought a courageous battle against Dementia over the past few years
Leonard was a member of Dilworth United Methodist Church, where he served as the Leader of the “Bowles” Sunday School Class. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired from Duke Power after 38 years.
He loved the game of golf and spent many years golfing and fishing at his second home in Oak Island, NC.
Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Grady (Linda); his five children, Bill Hoyle (Julie), Cindy Morris, Linda McKnight (Billy), Beverly Abbott (Ken) and Ginger Hickman (Mark); 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great-grandson. His family will miss him dearly.
