Kim, a Charlotte native, was born on June 13, 1969. She graduated from Independence High School in 1987 and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from East Carolina University in 1992. After earning her degree, Kim returned to Charlotte where she lived the remainder of her life.
Kim had a zest for life and always gave 100% into everything she did. Always passionate, she was energetic, spirited, and adventurous. She loved gardening, home renovation, traveling and architecture along with cultivating new friendships. Kim had a bigger than life presence when entering the room bringing joy and laughter to everyone. She was a ray of sunshine who will be greatly missed. She was taken far too early and lived her life to the fullest while she was here.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Carol Barton Cook; and her father, Victor Brown Cook.
Kim is survived by her cousins, James Franklin Barton III of Johns Island, SC, Bianca Barton (Mike Bradley) of Charlotte, NC, and Eric Gertsman of Seattle, WA; her aunts, Dixie Kay Gertsman of California and Ruth Barton of Charlotte, NC; her second cousins, Camila Barton, Olivia Barton, Rivers Porter; and her beloved Westie and furry friend, Berkley.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC.
