Judy Diamond, 78, of Huntersville, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2022. She was born February 6, 1943 in Charlotte to George V. and Ellen Moffitt Burris. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Mildred Burris Morris, Johnny Burris, Jane Burris Parke and Joe Burris. Also, nephew Paul Morris, nieces Pam Burris Thompson and Gale Overcash, great-nephew Wes Morris, and husbands John Parrish and Howard Diamond.
Judy was a graduate of North Mecklenburg High School, class of 1961. She worked at Home Federal Savings & Loan in Charlotte before moving to Kernersville. While living in Kernersville, she enjoyed a long career in the insurance department of Teamsters Union 391 before retiring. In 1999, she and her husband John moved to Daytona Beach, FL. This was a dream come true as they both loved the beach and NASCAR. She was a member of CrossRoads Church of Daytona Beach.
Judy was a lifelong UNC Tarheel and Boston Red Sox fan. She enjoyed traveling to watch them play in person as well as watching those teams play on television. And she always wore their colors with pride. Judy was an avid bowler and always placed well in tournaments in which she competed. She developed many special friendships with her teammates and competitors.
Judy had an especially deep love for her family. She always cherished time together with her brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, as well as with her extended Burris family. The Burris reunion each year was very special to her. She brought such joy and laughter wherever she went. She will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish Judy’s memory are nephews Vic Morris (Gail) and Curt Overcash (Darren Borrilez); nieces Deb Overcash, Patti Burris Deaton (Phil), Andi Morris Wilson (Randy), Jan Burris Thomas (Keith), and Patty Burris; Step-son Wayne Parrish (Gretchen) and grandsons Caleb and Daniel Parrish; several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
A service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at a later date. The family is very grateful for the prayers and words of encouragement during this difficult time of loss.
