John Robert Thomason

John R. Thomason Sr. was born and raised in Charlotte, NC as the only child of Harold Elwood and Pauline Layton Thomason.

He loved racing, model cars, trains, THE COLOR BLUE, the Dallas Cowboys, FORD cars and trucks, tinkering with his vehicles or guns, being in the outdoors and all animals especially his two cats Tink and Kelly.

John's church family (Biltmore Baptist) and work family (AVL Technologies) were always there for him when his children could not be there. He thrived off being with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He taught us how to have morals, be stubborn and fight for our lives. His passing was entirely on his own timing and he went peacefully.

Left to mourn his loss are children John R. Thomason Jr (Marie), CoreeLee A. Raiford (Stephen) and Jason M. Thomason (Deborah); grandchildren Archer M. Thomason, Kaylyn N. Guardado, Jayden A. Guardado, Gracen C. and Reese A. Thomason and great grandchildren Josiah L. Guardado, Londyn C. and Gabriella M. Gabriel.

Everyone that knew him loved his genuine and fun loving personality. God has gained a good and faithful servant and we have gained an angel looking after all of us!

The family will greet friends starting at noon on Thursday, December 8, 2022 with a funeral service at 1pm at McEwen Funeral Service located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte. Burial immediately following at Sharon Memorial Park.

Rest in peace Pop/Papa John. We can’t wait to see you again in heaven!
