John C. Shaw, Sr.

Mr. Shaw was born January 7, 1931 in Charlotte, son of the late Benjamin and Mary Booker Shaw. In younger years, he enjoyed scouting and had earned his Eagle Scout Award. He had lived in Charlotte most of his life and had been a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church for over 45 years. John owned and operated Shaw Color Graphics for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Shaw; a daughter, Denise Shaw; sons, John Shaw, Jr. and Gary (Terrie) Shaw; eight grandchildren, Shannon Shaw, Adam Hughes, Ericka Woods, Heather Coates, Alex Hughes, Jessica Nassif, Kimberly Hughes, and Kaitlyn Shaw; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will gather to receive friends at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel on Monday, November 11, 2013 beginning at 10 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. in the Chapel with Rev. John Harrill officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
