Born May 4, 1958 in Kearny, New Jersey, he was the first son of the late John Fabian, Sr. and Violet Morgan of Scotland. John served in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1980 as an Air Cargo Specialist Staff Sergeant.
In recent years John enjoyed playing bocce ball and chair volleyball with his dear friends and neighbors, volunteering for community events, and attending F-Troop and Romeos events.
As a proud Scotsman, the true joy of John’s life was his family. He adored his wife, Margaretha “Maggie” Johanna de Ligt, who he married on February 16, 1985, his daughter Elizabeth Ann Fabian, and their beloved beagle, Buddy. John recently became a grandfather in July of 2018.
John is survived by his wife, Maggie Fabian; daughter Elizabeth Fabian Welch (Arthur Welch); brother, Mark Fabian (Leigh Crumpler); and grandson, Beau Matthew Welch.
Visitation with John’s family will be held at McEwen Pineville Chapel in Charlotte at 1:00 pm on Monday January 28, 2019 followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm.
