John Gerald Burns, 46, of Charlotte passed away unexpectedly on May 27, 2016. John was born on January 18, 1970 in Los Angeles and as a young child, moved with his family to Charlotte. A graduate of East Mecklenburg HS in 1988 and UNC Charlotte in 1992, John was in sales with Chem Pak Inc. for 28 years. He loved sports – especially football, baseball and bowling and was a diehard Dolphins fan.
John is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Gordon and Frances Burns; maternal grandparents, Clifton and Gladys Smith; step-mother, Kay Burns; and step-grandparents, Lula and Nicholas Pappas.
John is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 25 years, Stephanie E. Burns; children, Samantha and Jacob Burns; mother, Peggy (George) Pappas; father, J.G. Gerald Burns; brother, Jeff (Mallory) Burns; niece, Maggie Ann Burns; step-siblings, Chad (Melissa) Pappas; Mary Alice (Richie) Elslager; Laura (Patrick) Moore and Jamie Miller; in-laws, Betty and Larry Gunter; brother-in-law Frank Stallings; godchildren, Shane, Madison and Sean Bissette and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday June 12 at Pineville United Methodist Church, 110 S Polk St, Pineville. As he would have wanted, please dress the way John dressed when he would come to see you – casual in flip flops and shorts!
