Well today is Friday May 26th and I feel today is one year since you left us. We are having a one year Memorial for you tomorrow at your home away from home, Beantown. Everyone that is in town will be there. You are still very loved and missed by so many. As your mother, it makes me feel so proud that you have touched so many lives. This Message is for my John. It's taken me 10 months and 11 days to visit this site. My memory ask about you all the time. A day does not past that I don't think about you and how I long to hear your wonderful belly laugh and to have one of your big bear hugs. I will never get over losing you. I've come to realize it doesn't matter how long ago you left us, the pain of missing you is just a reminder of how much I love you. How have I survived this last year without you and how will I survive next year without you. I am sure I will live with this pain for the rest of my life. You have truly been my hardest good bye. How does one describe this grief of losing a child. It is the most unbelievable love that you want to give but cannot. All of my love that I have for you this last year gathers up in the corner of my eyes, its the lump in my throat, and the hole in my heart. It is so hard not talking to you. I miss my phone ringing and seeing your name pop up. I miss your " Hi MA MA " As long as I live you will live, you will be remembered, and you will be dearly loved. Saying good bye was heartbreaking but learning to live without you has been the most difficult journey of my life. Just remember my John, the ones that love us never leave us. Since your passing I have taken the time to enjoy so many memories. Its not the material things in life that you have taught me, its now taking the time to remember. I am so heart broken and cannot believe this has happened.  I remember coming to spend summers with my cousin and taking care of him.  He was the most kind hearted person I have ever known.  You will be so missed John and I love you so very much.  I know you are with Auntie Gay and watching over all of us...you just left us too soon.  You touched so many lives. It truly breaks my heart to know Coach Burns is no longer with us. Xavier truly thought the world of him and is thankful for the time they shared on the baseball field. We will keep you all in our prayers. Coach Burns will be missed.

We have lost a great husband, father, son, brother, other relatives and in laws, and many bowling friends. Big John as we called him was a well loved man as he never met a stranger. We will miss him dearly but we will meet again. RIP our friend.

Stephanie, I am so sorry for your loss of your husband and the children's loss of their Dad. It has been a long time since I've seen you but I have not forgotten that sweet little girl who used to visit with Amy. I will be praying for you and the children during this terrible time.

So sorry to hear about John. I worked with Jerry his dad years ago and went to high shcool with his step mom Kay. Thoughts and prayers with family and friends.

I am heartbroken over the loss of my dear sweet cousin. I am still in shock & can't believe that he is gone. All sorts of memories pop up for me about John. I was 11 years old when he was born & I remember holding him as a little baby. As we visited with him & the family over the years, I had an opportunity to see him as he grew up & he grew so tall that he could have held me like a little baby. His heart was bigger than life & he had this infectious smile that would light up the room. He was such a kind & loving soul. There wasn't anything that he wouldn't do to help someone. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband & father. He will be missed so much but certainly not forgotten. He may have left this physical world but I'll bet that his spirit is not far. I know from time to time, he will let us know that he is around, checking in on all of us. My mom has certainly done that since her passing. I also find comfort that he is with her & I am sure that he is also with Mimi & Papa. Heaven has gained another angel. I have been lighting candles for him every day in honor of his life - Love you John Burns - you as so missed xoxo

Wow, still in shock. Austin and Holden thought the world of you man. You were the "cool" dad! and were great with the kids. You made a comment last week about Holden that I told him I couldn't share until he was 18, well, I told him and he had a much needed laugh as he struggled with the news. The whole family is saddened and we will certainly miss you big fella! RIP John.

My wife & I only knew John & Stephanie from many years ago, yet like a candle, no matter how many years went by, whenever we would see John, he had a way of melting the years away and brighten our day with his infectious laugh!  Hard to believe that he is not with us.  I know that the light of this candle will find you peaceful in the arms of our Father.

John was the one the most real personalities that I had ever been given the privilege to meet. I am honored to have gotten a chance to enjoy a much too short portion of life with him. He will truly be missed and never forgotten.

You always lit up a room whenever you entered.  You were more like a big brother to me than cousin and I always saw you that way.  You always put your family and others needs ahead of your own.  Even when you were a teenager, you and Jeff would always still play whatever I asked you to when you came to visit.  I love you more than you will ever know and I am completely heart broken, sad and shocked by this loss.  You made the world a better place by being in it and this world will never be the same without you.  You are and will be missed everyday.  I love you John Burns!!!!!

Not once in my lifetime had a ever seen him not smiling or happy no matter circumstances.  John would literally bend over back to help anyone if he could.  The world has lost a wonderful man, loving father.  I didn't like his choice in sports teams, other than that John was the perfect model of a human being.  May you rest in peace.

What a nice young man. He was very friendly to me when I first moved to Charlotte in 1990. We both loved baseball and talked about it a lot. He wil be missed. Sorry for his family and friends loss.

I am in shock and so saddened to hear this news.  John was good friends with my brother, and I remember him, his brother and his parents fondly!  I am very sorry for this loss.  His family is in my thoughts and prayers.

 John and I were friends back in elementary school -  we were buddies from the neighborhood, riding bikes and playing sports together. We drifted apart after middle school and in high school, as most kids do. But John and I always chatted whenever we saw  One another. I moved away from NC after College and I haven't seen John in 20+ years, but you always remember your childhood best friends and I will always remember John.  My prayers are with all of the Burns family.

John was always a good friend. He will be missed. Prayers to him and his great family.
