Jerrie Ann Hagler Tarlton, age 87, departed her earthly home on November 10, 2023 and was welcomed by her Heavenly Father. Jerrie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dedicated true friend. Jerrie, a faithful servant, passed away surrounded by her loving family. By never giving up, staying strong in her beliefs, and sharing the love of the Lord, Jerrie was an inspiration and godly example to family and those who knew her.
After attending East High School, Jerrie worked as a secretary at Edgecombe Steel until she joined her husband, Sherley, at T & T Cabinet Shop, followed by serving at Bible Baptist Church. Although she enjoyed roles outside the home, taking care of her family and friends were most important to her.
The Lord blessed Jerrie with the spiritual gifts of generosity and hospitality. A member of the Encouragers Life Group at FBCIT, she delighted in planning occasions and providing memorable tokens for her class members - always thinking of others. Her generosity and hospitality spilled over in the many parties and gatherings she loved hosting for family and friends.
Jerrie’s enthusiasm for travel and her second home at the beach brought much pleasure, joy and memories with family and friends. She was amazed by God’s handiwork, His goodness and His blessings.
Jerrie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Sherley Benson Tarlton. Survivors include daughters & husbands: Sharon & Mark Bond, Melissa & Marshall Price, Carmen & Quentin Best – all of the Matthews area.
