She was born to Robert Isaac Elder and Johnnie Black Elder in Mecklenburg County and grew up and was a lifetime resident of the Oakhurst Community. Roberta graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and helped her father for many years in the family’s local grocery store Elder’s Supermarket. She later went on to work for Herff Jones and worked for them for 23 years after which she retired to Oak Island.
Roberta is survived by her children: Wesley Moore, Mike Moore, John Moore and Gina Curry; grandchildren: Robbie, Jessica, Ashlee, Jacqueline, Joseph, Carly, Jade, Nick, Keely, Cole, Matthew and Chris; great grandchildren Freddie and Piper; a brother Doug Elder and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 26, 2014 with visitation one hour prior to the service at McEwen Funeral Service Charlotte Chapel, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC.
McEwen Funeral Service is handling the arrangements for the Moore family.
