Jean Gasque Hilton

“Gran Jean”

Jean Hilton, 69, of Charlotte, passed away on February 12, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital surrounded by her loving daughter and family. The cherished memory of Jean will always be that of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all that knew her.

She was born on May 9, 1941 in Marion, SC to John Leon and Myrtle Hood Gasque. She attended Columbia College in Columbia, SC and then went on to work for Belk Store Services in Charlotte. After 29 years of service she then retired in Charlotte with her husband Robert “Bob” Hilton. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and an active member of the Martha & Mary Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her daughter Linda Hilton Helms and her husband Jeff of Charlotte, NC; one granddaughter Hannah Grace Helms also of Charlotte; a sister Bobbie Gasque of Loris, SC and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hilton was preceded in death by her husband Bob Hilton in 1999.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 12:00 pm (Noon) at Sharon Baptist Church, 6411 Sharon Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210 with Rev Robbie Page officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Dr. Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, February 14, 2011 at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210.
