Janice Scott Cole Rogers

A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Jan’s professional career ranged from medical technologist, professional Girl Scout of Hornet’s Nest Girl Scout Council, after school director for local CMS schools, and elementary classroom assistant before retiring.

She was a longtime member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Charlotte, where she served in many areas of the church including youth counselor and Girl Scout leader.

She will be remembered for her many hobbies including playing the piano, making family Christmas tree ornaments, and baking biscuits and pound cake. In her later years she enjoyed reading and listening to gospel music regularly.

She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas (Tommy) Fowler Rogers and her parents Chrest and Dorothy Cole.

She is survived by her daughters Angela Rogers Marlowe (Jonathan) of Cornelius, NC and Amy Rogers Raynor (Brian) of Mint Hill, NC. She was known as “Maiee” to her grandchildren Elizabeth Marlowe Novak (John), Rachel Marlowe, Brianna Raynor, Cole Raynor, and one great grandchild, Fowler Novak. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and had unique relationships with each.

She is also survived by her brother Boyce (Carol) Cole and sister Brenda (Floyd) Halberg and loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her “adopted” family include sister Glenna Raynor and extended Raynor family, Karen and Matt Green, Jenna Blackwell, and Savannah Green.

The family will receive friends on March 6th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill. A Memorial Service is to follow at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Angela Rogers Marlowe and the Rev. Jonathan Marlowe officiating.

A private Interment will follow at a later date at Sunset Memory Gardens, Mint Hill.
