Janice graduated from Harding High School in 1965. She retired from many years of service with the Mecklenburg County Government. She was a long-time member of the Presbyterian Church. Over the years she attended Seigle Avenue Presbyterian, St. John Presbyterian, Robinson Presbyterian and currently Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church in her faithful service to her Lord Jesus Christ.
She met her husband Michael Moore while growing up in Piedmont Courts in Charlotte. Together they spent 45 years of marriage raising their family. Janice was as devoted to her family and friends as she was devoted to her faith. Raising her boys required a strong sense of purpose and a good dose of humor. Janice had those characteristics in spades, and never met a soul to whom she could not show God’s light. Joyous and infectious laughter was the norm in the presence of Janice, and more often than not at her own willing expense. She never took herself too seriously and was always more concerned about those around her than her own self interest. Her strong faith and devotion to Christ was evident to all who knew her.
Janice is survived by her husband, Michael Moore, and sons and daughters in-law: Douglas and Dawn Barnett of Charleston, SC, Gregory and Amanda Moore of Charlotte, NC, Alan Moore and Beth Denmon of Sylva, NC, and Aaron and Sarah Moore of Charlotte, NC. Nine young grandchildren lovingly refer to her as their Nana. She is also survived by three brothers, Earl Wingate Sr. of Denver, NC, Bruce Wingate of Harrisburg, NC, Glenn Wingate of Charlotte, NC, as well as her best friend Pam Butler of Charlotte, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church, 6740 Albemarle Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212.
