Donnie was born Dec 4, 1939, in White Store, NC to Oscar and Ophelia Manus. He attended Harding High and later served two years in the US Navy.
He loved sports, including watching and playing golf, and shooting pool. He was a member of the APA, as well as past President of the PKWS and member of FBC Charlotte. He enjoyed traveling the US and Canada with his wife and spending time with family, friends, and his collies.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Myrtis, children Donnie, Jr., LaVonda (Robert) Lemmond and Kim Manus, as well as two stepdaughters, Dawn (Les) Mize and Pam (Rich) Macomber; six grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved collie, Max. He is preceded in death by his son, Pat, and six siblings.
Donnie will be especially remembered for his fun-loving spirit and special occasion hats.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 3pm at McEwen Funeral Service located at 5716 Monroe Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, Ebenezer UMC in Mt Ulla, NC, or the charity of your choice.
