James Newton Deal "Jimmy"

He was born at the same hospital on June 7, 1930 to the late Garnett Norma Deal “Buckshot” and Faye E. Price Deal.

Mr. Deal graduated from Central High School in Charlotte. He then joined the Air Force and served during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he became an employee of Southern Bell and retired from there in 1991 after 42 years. He was also a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Mr. Deal is survived y the love of his life for 63 years, Irene Couvillon Deal. They were married on February 7, 1953. He is survived by his two children, James N. “Jim” Deal, Jr. of Charlotte and Brenda Deal Austell and husband David Len Austell of Lake Wylie, SC, two grandchildren; Ashley Austell Randall and husband James Randall of St. Louis, MO and Allen Bryce Austell of Charleston, SC. He has one great granddaughter, Josephine V. Randall.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM with the Revered Michael Davis officiating.
