He was preceded in death by twin siblings, William Stanford and Margaret Stanford Thomas, and brother, Joe Stanford. Jack is survived by his sister, Lula Stanford Ashley; sister-in-law, Isabelle Stanford; and many nieces and nephews.
Jack was born and raised in the Sharon Community, graduated Sharon School and served in the United States Army. Jack’s career included employment with International Harvester and later retired from John Thomasson Construction Company. Jack was an avid reader, loved U.S. history, playing bridge, gardening and Duke Basketball. Talking about the “Good ole days” and telling a good joke was a favorite pastime. A visit with Jack always ended with him saying “Thank you for what you do for me.”
A private family service will be held to celebrate Jack’s life at Sharon Presbyterian Church where he was a lifelong member.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Esther Brown Music Fund or Cemetery Fund at Sharon Presbyterian Church, 5201 Sharon Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.
