Jack Melvin Griffin

Mr. Griffin, 80, of Monroe, NC, formerly of Charlotte, NC, died May 16, 2011 at Lake Park Nursing and Rehab. Center.

He was born November 21, 1930 in Mecklenburg County, NC, one of four children to the late Ernest Griffin and Virgina Rowland Griffin. He was a graduate of Tech High School and served in The Unites States Coast Guard and served as a Captain with the Charlotte Fire Department for twenty-six years.

The Griffin family will greet friends 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 19, 2011 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon. A service to celebrate his life will follow at 2:30 PM from the graveside at Sharon Memorial Park with The Reverend Dr. Rocky Branch, officiating.

Mr. Griffin is survived by his two children: Earl Dale Griffin of Matthews, NC and Myra Sydney and husband, Rodney of Midland, NC; one grandson, Jordan. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Earl and Harry Griffin and one sister, Shirley Connell.
