Hilda Maddox Smith

Hilda Maddox Smith, 86, departed this life Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Asbury Care Center at Aldersgate Retirement Community. She was born in Cleveland, Georgia to the late F. L. Maddox and Rosa Payseur Maddox on April 5, 1926.

She retired in 1981 from General Motors. She was a proud Secretary for 31 years, the last ten years as an Executive Secretary. Hilda was a very active charter member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Paul Smith, daughter, Terri Phillippi (Steve), granddaughter, Elizabeth Page Pitkin, great grandsons, Logan Reid Pitkin, and Ashton Reid Pitkin, and two sisters, Wanda Abercrombie of Charlotte and Vera Hicks (Virgil) of Clermont, Florida.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Main Campus Worship Center on Wednesday, December 12, followed by a service celebrating the life of Mrs. Smith beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Charlotte, North Carolina.
