Andy was the son of Henry Corder and Ella Corder Cannoy. Even before graduating high school, he joined the US Army in 1962 serving his country during the Vietnam War. He was a proud member of the 1st Special Forces and the 5th Special Forces group (Airborne). He proudly wore silver wings on his chest – he was a Green Beret.
After serving two tours of duty Andy entered the University of Tennessee where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. He taught business at Central Piedmont Community College for thirty-four years while, running his own business, P.I.T., Partners in Transportation.
Andy leaves behind his son Jerry Corder and daughter Debbie Lee; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister Donna Sue Scott; and his very good friend Jane Troutman, who loved and took care of him during his final days. He leaves a host of nieces and nephews, who mourn their loss.
Not too many people have lifelong friends to mourn them but Andy has two of the best buddies, Kenny and Bobby Peaks.
Andy was preceded in death by two sisters, Beverly and Linda Cannoy and brother Ricky Cannoy.
Andy was known for his willingness to help anyone in need. It was often said of him, he had a heart of gold, loyal and faithful to his family, friends and country. His shoes can never be filled.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 3 2020 at 11am at McEwen Funeral Service located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte.
Go rest in peace having no more pain.
We love you and will never forget you.
