Hendrix Lamar Truesdale

Hendrix was a bright and talented young boy with many passions and interests. He loved to read, build with Legos, and play the guitar—a skill he taught himself. He was captivated by anime and had a deep appreciation for Japanese culture, which inspired his creativity and imagination.

Born on February 5th, 2013, in Charlotte, NC, Hendrix was the beloved son of Laura Truesdale and Darwin Lamar Hickman Jr. He lived in Charlotte, NC, and was a student at Coulwood STEM Academy, where he excelled academically and regularly made the honor roll.

At Coulwood STEM Academy, Hendrix was known for his curiosity, kindness, and sense of humor. His teachers and friends will remember him for his eagerness to learn, his thoughtful nature, and his ability to make others smile.

Hendrix Truesdale, age 11, was tragically hit and killed by a vehicle on December 13th, 2024. Hendrix was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Christine E. Harrison and paternal grandfather Darwin Lamar Hickman Sr. He is survived by his father Darwin L. Hickman Jr., stepmother Sabrina Poff, maternal grandmother Carolyn Williams, maternal half-sister Zoe, and maternal half-brother Phoenix. Hendrix was a cherished grandson, a beloved son, and a joy to all who knew him.

Hendrix's memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. Though his time with us was far too short, his impact was profound, and he will forever be missed.

A celebration of Hendrix's life will take place on December 20th, 2024 at 1pm at McEwen Funeral Home in Pineville NC. Hendrix, your light will continue to shine in the love and memories of all who were fortunate enough to know you. Rest peacefully, sweet Hendrix.
