Gloria Shaw Scott

Our mother, family matriarch, Busha, and friend left bound for Heaven Oct. 6, 2016 from CMC Pineville, N.C. Gloria was born March 23, 1926 in Chicago, Ill. She worked for the U.S. War Department during WWII. While visiting military brothers in Paris, TN, she met the love of her life, Preston Shaw. They were married April 3 1945. Most of their years were spent in Charlotte, NC, his home state.

Gloria always had a calling to be wife/mother of which she epitomized that role to the fullest. Gloria was “Glory” to all who came into contact with her. Always a cheerful smile and “wonderful” things to say to everyone she met. Her love for the Lord Jesus Christ was her biggest asset! Gloria had late life secretarial careers and worked for various companies and eventually retired from Duke Power (Energy). She was honored with being the “Kelly Girl of the Year”, and in 2015 published her love “Letters” from 1942-45 to Preston. She was one of a kind and will greatly be missed.

Gloria was preceded in death by: her parents, Joseph and Benigna (Benny) Wierzbowski,1st husband, Talmage Preston Shaw, 2nd husband Bruce Scott; sons, Ronnie Lee, Dennis Patrick and Joseph Stanley; brothers, Harry, Al, Jim and Ray. She is survived by: sister, Virginia Bukowski; daughters, Caroline Ometz (Frank), Gary Shaw (Julie), and Barbara Burnett (Jerry); sons, Steven Preston, Gary Micheal, Brian David; grandchildren, Steven Ray Shaw, Alicia Shaw Tardugno, Shay Ashley Ometz Barfoot, Christopher Shaw and Jon Robert Gutherie; great grandchildren, Calder and Milo Barfoot, Shawn Luke Tardugno, Aaliyah, Zylen and Travonda Gutherie. And many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 1pm Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016 at McEwen Pineville Chapel, where a service will be held at 2 pm. The family would like to thank Carolina's Medial-Pineville for their care and commitment.
