Glenn Ronald Hudson

Glenn met his wife, Carol, at High Point High School where he played the trumpet and trombone in the marching band and Carol was a majorette. Glenn attended Appalachian State Teachers College on a wrestling scholarship. After Glenn and Carol married, he joined the US Navy and served on the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea (CV-43 ) on the flight deck and as a fireman. After his Navy service, he attended Indiana Institute of Technology and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He worked at Lockheed, Beacon Engineering and Equipment and Supply in Monroe, NC designing airplane parts.

Glenn was a lover of water and built and restored several boats and a few Corvairs. He also enjoyed riding his Sea Doo’s, water skiing, and scuba diving and tried a few new hobbies such as sky diving, flying a plane solo and learning to ride a motorcycle. Glenn was a Christian where he served in the Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir.

As Carol’s health deteriorated, Glenn never left her side, loving her until she died. Glenn believed in enjoying life and living each day to the fullest. He believed in being honest, hard working and living up to your word which he passed on to his children. He will be missed greatly but we all know he is finally back with Carol in heaven.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Mildred Foust, Frances Hayworth and Grace Brown; his brothers, Willard Hudson and Carroll Hudson (who was killed in action in WWII in the U.S. Army Air Force); his son, Glenn Ronald Hudson, Jr.; and Glenn's beloved wife, Carol Ann Hudson.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sharon Hewat (Randy) and Susan Marston (Claude); his sons, Steve Hudson (Amy), Scott Hudson (Shannon), and Sam Hudson (Christine); his eleven grandchildren, Daniel Hewat, Brian Hewat (Kari), Nicole Hewat, Zachary Marston (Valerie), Caroline Marston (Matthew), Nicholas Marston (Giovanna), Seth Hudson (Alyssa), Cole Hudson, Jake Hudson, Leila Hudson and McKenna Hudson; his four step grandchildren; and his three great-grandchildren, Spencer Walden, Avery Walden and Morgan Hewat; and many other loving extended family members.

A Celebration of Glenn's Life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 29, 2023 at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC. A visitation will be held prior from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC.
