Born December 18, 1940 in Denmark, SC, he was a son of the late Ruby & Juanita Gibson. Glen grew up in a loving Christian home working on the family farm doing chores like feeding the hogs and milking the cows. Following graduation from Denmark "Dane" High School, Glen furthered his education at Clemson University. He began his career with AT&T, Southern Bell and Lucent Technologies before establishing his own business as Tallwood Communications in 1990. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1959 until 1962. He was a "true" patriot and loved his country dearly. Glen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and everyone loved him. Glen loved gardening, carpentry, camping, football (Clemson & Carolina Panthers), Cajun country and old John Deere tractors. Glen raised birds, large and small, and had a real connection with them all.
Glen was preceded in death by his three brothers Barnwell, Jacob and Roddy.
He is survived by his wife Pam of 26 years, who lovingly named him "Sugar Precious", daughter Donna Kovach and husband Daniel of Charlotte, son Greg and stepson Kelly Shue along with three grandchildren Deanna Kovach Havai and husband Zoltan, Courtney and Alec Shue, as well as sister Dorcas Gibson Howle of Florence, SC along with nephews and nieces and their children.
The service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Harry & Bryant's Chapel in the Oaks, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC. Officiating will be Michael Cummings, Associate Pastor with First Baptist Church Charlotte.
Receiving of friends and reception will follow the service.
Interment will be private at Forrest Lawn East in Matthews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Heart Association or charity of choice.
