Gladys Lucille Deaton

Gladys Lucille Stroud Deaton, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the Brian Center in Charlotte. Born in Lancaster, SC on January 5, 1929, she was a daughter of the late John Stroud and Nora Stroud. Mrs. Deaton retired from Celanese America and was a member of Plaza Baptist Church until her death. She will long be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend to those who knew her.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, July 5th at Sharon Memorial Park with the Pastor Timothy S. Nichols officiating. The family will receive friends from Noon to 1:00PM at The Derita Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service prior to the graveside service.

Mrs. Deaton is survived by three daughters, Sheila D. Haithcock and husband Mike, of Charlotte, Kathleen D. McCall, of Shallotte, Sandra D. Townsend, of Shallotte; a son, Timothy A. Deaton and wife Judy, of Charlotte; seven grandchildren, Sage D. Swygert and husband Jordon, of Locust, Tonya D. Smith and husband Nick, of Charlotte, Alan Temple, of Wilmington, Len Temple, of Charlotte, Jerry Townsend, of York, SC, Marilyn Townsend, of York, SC and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Deaton was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Deaton; a daughter, Beverly Sue Carpenter Parent and a grandson, Matthew Parent.
