George was born in Philadelphia, Pa, in 1926 to the late Luther Max Rudisill and Ada Booth Rudisill the third of nine children.
He grew up in Charlotte and started work early in life delivering newspapers on his bike. He attended Harding High School and then joined the U.S. Navy during World War II. As a member of the Greatest Generation he made three beach landings on D-Day June 6th, 1944 during the Normandy Invasion of France and never considered his service a sacrifice. He loved God, family and country and was proud of having served all three.
His career was as a self-employed plumbing & heating contractor doing projects in Charlotte and around the Carolinas. In earlier years he enjoyed golfing and in later years making furniture in his work shop for friends, family and his church. He was always tinkering with something and could fix just about anything. When not at that he worked in his garden and enjoyed a good card game of Pinochle. One of his adventures was one winter he bought a pair of ice skates and played hockey on a pick up league. George was a long time member of Newell Baptist Church and was always active serving as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, etc., until health no longer permitted. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, loved them dearly and always had a joke or a good story to tell about growing up during the Great Depression and other life experiences.
