George Robert Gibson, age 84 of Charlotte died May 30, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 12:30PM Friday, June 3, 2011 in Forest Lawn West Chapel with Reverend Jim Humphries officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour (11:30-12:30PM) prior to the service.
Mr. Gibson was born in Cincinnati, Ohio August 19, 1926, son of the late Earl and Edith Gibson. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, served in the US Navy during WWII, and owned and operated Gibson Dental Laboratory in Gastonia, NC before retiring.
Surviving are a daughter, Bobbie Jo Gibson of Charlotte, son Joseph David Gibson of Charlotte, granddaughter, Megan Rachel Thomas, grandson, Dustin Robert Thomas and great grandson, Tony Lee Baker, Jr. all of Charlotte, niece, Jo Ann Lowe of Pageland, SC, and a nephew, James P. Morris and wife, Janet of Gastonia, NC. Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his wife, Midgeon Parnell Gibson and two sisters and one brother.
