Frances Freeman Campbell Weedon CHARLOTTE - Frances Freeman Campbell Weedon, 89, of Charlotte passed away on October 25, 2013. She was born July 2, 1924, in Whittier, NC, to Dillard and Estella Freeman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morton B. Campbell, Sr., her second husband, Wallace Weedon, and step-son, Morton "Benny" Campbell, Jr. She was a devoted mother, avid gardener, dedicated nurse and caregiver. She had a positive and gentle spirit. She was raised at The Children's Home in Winston-Salem, with her five brothers and sisters, who all preceded her in death. She graduated from Presbyterian Hospital's School of Nursing in 1945, and returned to that career after raising her two daughters. She was a devoted member of Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church. Frances is survived by her two daughters, Donna Campbell Chamblin, Patricia Campbell Shelton (Frank Price), both of Charlotte, daughter-in-law Sharron R. Campbell of California, five grandsons, Binford Campbell, Brad Campbell, H.J. "Chip" Ford, III, Mark Ford, Bryan Shelton, and six great-grandchildren. Her love and support will be missed by all. Family meant everything to her. The family would like to thank the entire staff and residents of Atria/Merrywood for the love and kindness they have extended to her for the past two years. She truly loved her home there. We would also like to thank Home Instead, especially Jennifer Teasley, for the support they provided. Hugs also go out to Athena Teasley for the care she gave our mom. A sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at CMC for all they did. Last but not least, to the staff of Levine and Dickson Hospice House at Southminster. Her stay was short, but so meaningful, and will not be forgotten. There will be a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery, 4426 Central Ave. Charlotte on Tuesday, October 29, at 2pm.
