Ethel (Hancock) Murray

Mrs. Murray was born on January 10, 1931 in Wilson, NC to Roy and Cassie Hancock. She had five brothers and one sister.

Ethel married Edward Rozelle Murray on June 12, 1948. They were married 58 years before he passed away in 2006. Ethel and Rozelle had two sons, Roy "Butch" (Kathy) and Edward Wayne (Robin), seven grandchildren, Alli Haun (David), Kyle Murray (Cassie), Zachary Murray (Amelia), Courtney Price (Chris), Jason Ratliff (Scarlet), Melissa Ratliff and Brandon Ratliff (Michelle) and fifteen beautiful great grandchildren. She loved them all dearly and was dearly loved by all.

Ethel and Rozelle moved to Charlotte from Wilson in 1960 and were charter members of Mulberry Baptist Church. Mrs. Murray worked for Thurston Motor Lines and later Brown Transport, retiring in 1989. She loved her Bible, reading, horse racing, BINGO, puzzles, shoes and dessert.

She is survived by one brother Roy Hancock, her sons and their wives, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs. Murray will be on Saturday, July 9, 2022, Mulberry Baptist Church, 6450 Tuckaseegee Rd., Charlotte, NC 28214 with a visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will follow afterwards at 3:00 PM at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208.
