Emily McKay Henderson

Mrs. Henderson, 95, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 22, 2016. She was born in Red Springs, NC on March 1, 1921 to the late William Davis McKay and Laura Jones McKay. Emily worked at Richmond County Hospital in Rockingham, NC. She retired from the Red Cross in Charlotte. After retiring Emily and her late husband Jim moved to the Cypress Club.

She was preceded in death her husband James Warren Henderson, Sr. and her brother William Duncan McKay.

Emily is survived by her sons, James Warren Henderson, Jr., William McKay Henderson and David Harrell Henderson; daughter-in-laws, Marcia Clark Henderson, Lori Bellew Henderson and Susan McDowell Henderson; her grandchildren Matthew Brian Henderson, Krista Nicole Henderson, Holly Marie Henderson, Juliet McKay O’Heir and her husband Michael, William McKay Henderson, II, Parker McKay Henderson, and Tyler David Henderson. She is also survived by one great granddaughter Quincey McKay O’Heir.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 6 pm to 8 pm at McEwen Pineville Chapel 10500 Park Rd. Charlotte, NC. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 26, at 11 am at Sharon Presbyterian Church 5201 Sharon Rd. Charlotte, NC 28210. Interment Sharon Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
