Edna Elizabeth Bankett Stockton, 84, of Charlotte passed away on November 14, 2011. Lib was born in Salisbury on February 9, 1927 to John Carlie Bankett and Grace Mahaley Bankett. She graduated from Boyden High School in Salisbury and Lenoir Rhyne College. She worked for Ramsey Realty and Insurance Co. for five years after which she began her career with the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Lib worked at the Salisbury Troop Headquarters and then the Troop Office in Monroe from which she retired after 38 years with the NCHP. After her retirement, she worked part time for 12 years as a cashier at J&K Cafeteria. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Lingle of Salisbury, Bill Riddick of Belvidere, NC and Max Stockton of Charlotte. She is survived by her brother, Johnnie R. Bankett and wife Barbara; nephew, J. Christian Bankett and wife Elizabeth of Charlotte; niece Tracy Arne and husband Tom of Winston Salem; 1 great-niece and 3 great-nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at White Oak Manor for their wonderful care of Elizabeth as well as a special thank you to her close friend, Aubrey Nolan, for his friendship and devotion these last few years. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 19 from noon until 1:00 pm followed by a 1:00 pm service at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210. Interment will immediately follow at Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum, 5716 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212.
