Navy Veteran Edward “Eddie” Logan Teeter, Sr., age 76, went to be with Jesus Saturday morning, March 23, 2019, after a long illness with Parkinson’s. He was born July 12, 1942, to the late Rev. William Watson Teeter and Annie Isadore Skidmore Teeter of Charlotte, NC.
Eddie was preceded in death by sisters, Madeline Teeter, Shirley Teeter Stogner; and brothers, Melvin Teeter and Billy Teeter. Eddie became a residence of the Brookdale Carriage Club Old Providence of Charlotte September 2018.
Eddie was a 1961 graduate of East Mecklenburg High, where he met the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Woodle “Libby” Teeter. They have been married 55 years. Both grew up in Charlotte later became residence of Lake Norman, NC, for 41 years. In 2017, they moved to Mint Hill, NC, to get closer to their children.
Prior to graduating, Eddie signed up with the US Navy. After graduating, he was stationed in Charleston, SC, served in the Submarine Division and active in ‘Sea Service’ on the USS Odax (SS-484) during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After four years of service to our country, he began working for Terrell Machine Company as a ‘machinist’, and later furthered his education and became a ‘Mechanical Engineer.’ He also taught ‘machine shop theory’ for a tech school. He then relocated to Charleston, then Surfside Beach, SC, where he taught engineering. Eddie moved back to Charlotte and became plant manager for two AMP Incorporated locations in Charlotte/Gastonia. The Charlotte Molding Facility was presented an ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’ in recognition and appreciation of outstanding contributions to the ‘Quality Improvement Programs’ he managed. Eddie retired after 30 years in the work force.
He enjoyed life to the fullest; everyone loved his keen sense of humor, kindness and magnetic personality. He had a great time during the Disco era, then phased into a hobby as a DJ, later becoming a certified Beach and Shag DJ playing at locations in Ocean Drive Beach such as Duck’s during SOS, the Harding West Reunions, and was a DJ for SOS Cruises. Not limited to beach music, he played for numerous clubs and events in NC, SC, and Virginia, for all occasions and all age groups. He and Libby made so many wonderful friends on their journey and created many great memories together.
Out of all the great times, his achievements, and adventures with his soul mate, Libby, the greatest gift of all was the moment Eddie and Libby’s son, Blue was born and the day their daughter, Wendy was born. From those moments, his life became complete! His journey with his children during sporting events, dancing, proms, graduating, married and blessing him with grandchildren, Taylor, Logan and Peyton, he said, “was the best achievement of all!” He adored Libby, his children and grandchildren.
Eddie Teeter touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by his wonderful wife, ‘Libby;’ his children/grandchildren, family and friends. We all have peace in our hearts knowing he we will see him again. He is with Jesus now and has no more pain or suffering.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 55 years, Libby; son, Blue (Dani); daughter, Wendy (Dan); grandchildren, Taylor and Logan Teeter, and Peyton Yount; sisters, Barbara Collins (Wade), Martha Hooks (Ed), and Deloris Strickland; half-brothers, Marvin Teeter and Fred Teeter; half-sister, Virginia Whitmore; brother-in-law, Ronnie Woodle (Kathi); sisters-in-law, Nancy Woodle Wexel and Teresa Woodle Clanton (Cotton); and so many wonderful nieces and nephews, that adored Eddie and he loved so much!
