Don was born on May 28,1935 in Big Pine NC, he served in the US Army in France from 1955-1957 then joined the CMPD as a Police Officer where he patrolled the streets of Charlotte and later went to communications as a dispatcher. Don retired from CMPD on January 31, 1987.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Rose, Son: Bill South/Susan, Daughters: Sabrina LeClair/Jeff, Keyna Jenkins/Chuck, Brigid Thomas/Bobby, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held on September 25, 2021 at 11:00 am at Sharon Memorial Park, Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC.
Mask and social distancing to be observed.
