Dennis L. Manus (76) of Matthews, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home in the care of his daughter Kimberly Wilcox, caregiver Mary Scarbrough and his wife Judy Manus by his bedside on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 7:54 p.m.
He was a hardworking, caring, loving family man, a successful business owner, a US Army Veteran, and, most importantly, a man of God. Dennis put his faith above all and instilled it in his family. He read his Bible nightly up until he fell too ill to do so. He never once lost his faith in God during any time of his sickness. Dennis talked and prayed to God until his final moments. He was loved by all. Anyone who met Dennis always had the nicest things to say about him. Never, ever, was there a bad word spoken about him. He was a very caring, giving, and humble person. To know him was to love him as he left an impression on everyone he met.
Dennis always helped his family and those in need when he could as he knew first-hand all about struggles and being less fortunate as he faced many struggles - was less fortunate monetary wise as a child and young adult. With that, he pushed himself always to work hard and to provide for his wife and three children.
Dennis pushed himself to the point of starting his own business alongside and with the help of his eldest son Corey. The two started a sheet metal fabrication shop 23 years ago that is still thriving and successfully ran and operated by his three children. A few years prior to his passing, he retired to be alongside his wife Judy, who fell ill. He refused to leave her side and was a caregiver to her up until he no longer had the strength to do so due to his own battle with cancer.
Although a very successful business owner and able to enjoy the more luxurious things of life, Dennis never once lost his humbleness. He took care of his employees, always helped those in need, and was always, always there for his children and family. He enjoyed the simplistic life and spending time with family. Dennis was either with family, enjoying time at the lake, listening/singing to gospel music, watching his beloved Carolina Tar Heels play basketball, or outdoors working in his yard. Family, a simplistic lifestyle, and his love for Jesus brought him the most joy.
Dennis was the most humble, gentle soul. His memory will go on forever by the stories told by so many who knew him. May he forever rest in peace and walk the streets of gold with his Savior.
Left to mourn his loss is his loving wife of 54 years, Judy Lee Manus, sons Corey and Chad (Kelly), daughter, Kimberly Wilcox, granddaughters Jada Manus and Kierston Craven and his brother Ray Manus (Barbara).
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 1pm at Southbrook Church located at 5607 Monroe-Weddington Road in Weddington. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon. Burial immediately following at Sharon Memorial Park located 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte.
