Deborah Whitley Walters, affectionately known to many as "Debbie” graced this world on June 18, 1954, in Wilson, North Carolina. She peacefully passed away on March 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Debbie was a woman of deep faith, a devout Christian whose life was a testament to her beliefs. Her spiritual journey was characterized by her unwavering dedication to serving others. She volunteered countless hours at local churches and an Alzheimer daycare program, always eager to lend a helping hand and share her warmth and kindness.
In November of 1983 Debbie married her beloved John Walters, with whom she shared a beautiful life until his passing. Together, they built a family and cherished every moment spent with their son, Barrett, and his family. Nothing brought Debbie more joy than being a mom and a "Mimi." Whether cheering on JB at baseball games or supporting Ella at gymnastics and cheerleading competitions, Debbie’s heart was fullest when surrounded by her family.
For over 30 years, Debbie was a dedicated employee at Cigna Healthcare, where her colleagues admired her commitment and kind spirit. Debbie was also an avid card player, enjoying spirited games with her neighborhood friends, who will surely miss her laughter and camaraderie. Debbie also enjoyed watching and attending Carolina Panther games. Debbie enjoyed her girls trips and concerts with her close friends.
Debbie had a special place in her heart for the mountains, particularly the times she spent visiting Gatlinburg, where she found peace and joy in nature's beauty.
Preceded in death by her husband John, and her parents Reba and James Whitley. Debbie is survived by her loving son Barrett, grandchildren John (JB) and Ella and their mother Kelly Antoniazzi, her dear sisters Becky Holmes (Rick) and Ann Small (Lonnie), several nieces, nephews and great nephews, and a host of friends and extended family who cherished her dearly.
The family would like to thank her Grace Community Church and Light of Christ United Methodist Church small groups for their love and ongoing support.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 10 a.m., followed by an 11:00 a.m. service at Grace Community Church of Fort Mill. As we gather to celebrate Deb's remarkable life, we find comfort in scripture: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" (2 Timothy 4:7).
Debbie Walters lived her life with grace, humor, and a steadfast faith. Her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
