David M. Watts, 75, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Born September 20, 1946 in Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late Maurice L. and Naomi (Ellis) Watts Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Suzanne; his daughters, Kathy (Chris) and Amy (Darrell); grandchildren, Jess Calhoun, Emma Calhoun, Aiden Pace and Dylan Pace; sisters, Brenda (Jim) Eudy and Nancy Byrum; and a host of many nieces and nephews who he loved so much.
David was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his many friends, grandson and son-in-law. He enjoyed time with his family and friends whom he always had laughing. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandson Jess; watching his granddaughter, Emma play softball and spending time with Aiden and Dylan at the ball field.
He was a member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church since birth and a member of West Gate Masonic Lodge 738 in Charlotte. David took great pride in the fact that he was a decorated Veteran; he served in the Vietnam War as an Army Ranger. He had such a loving spirit, always had smile and never met a stranger. David always wanted to make everyone laugh, he was loved so very much, and he will be dearly missed.
The visitation will be held at 11:00 am until the time of service at the church. Funeral Service will be at 1 pm Monday, March 21, 2022 at Durham Memorial Baptist Church, 1601 Toddville Road, Charlotte. A committal service will occur Monday, March 21, 2022 following the funeral at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208. A visitation for David will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 from 11:00 AM until the time of funeral service, 1:00 PM at Durham Memorial Baptist Church, 1601 Toddville Road, Charlotte, NC. Following the funeral service, burial will take place at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.
