I did not have the pleasure of knowing Tim for very long. I have only worked at the bookstore at CPCC since August of 2021. Tim would come in often to see how we were doing and catch up with us. I felt safe knowing he was there. I keep expecting him to come into the bookstore and then I sadly remember he is no longer with us. I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Tim. I pray that the Lord would be very close to your broken hearts and bind up your wounds. 

Strickland has left an impression on the hearts of so many people, including me. His kind and honest nature made for easy conversation and he was always willing to share his stories. I value the way he was able to be present and connect with the people around him and I will miss seeing him each day. Holding his family and friends in the light. 

I have too many fond memories of Officer Strickland (ol’ Strick-Diddy).  He will be missed.   Kind soul, good hearted and funny.

I am so heartbroken by the loss of Officer Strickland. I looked forward every morning to see him when I would be coming into work and leaving for the day. And throughout the day he would walk by and wave hello again and if I looked sad, he would pull down his mask for a second and smile widely so I would smile back. He always checked on me to make sure I was ok. I always knew it was him coming with his keys jingling. Every day at 11, I knew he was coming to warm up his lunch. And he would always comment on my lunch. He knew it was my lunch in the oven because he said I ate veggies. He always made me laugh and smile and made my day so happy and so exciting. He was a dear friend and like my grandpa. I am working on a children's picture book and he was so excited for me. He said he was going to be the first person when it is published to get it and he wanted me to sign it too. It is very hard to come to work and he isn't here. I miss him so much. He has made a huge impression on my life. He was the nicest and kindest person. He always made every person feel so important and special. And He himself was so important and so special person. It isn't the same without him. My deepest sympathy to his wife and his family.

I am so saddened by the loss of Tim.  He was the nicest and kindest person.  I always looked forward to hearing his keys jingle because I knew he was coming around the corner to stop by for a chat.  I enjoyed our talks everyday.  The last time I saw him was before Christmas break and he was showing pictures of his beloved dog.  Coming to the Levine campus is not the same without him here. I am so sad to read about the passing of Strickland. My heart goes out to his family and friends.  I knew  him from my visits to the Levine Campus of Central Piedmont. He always greeted me with a smile and was eager to help me, the students and staff at CP.  I would arrive at CP and set up my table to speak with the students about transferring to App State. Strickland always knew when I was visiting and would hold a good spot for me. In the picture above he referred to this spot as my place. He would also scold me for being late and tell the students that I was running late due to traffic, but he did it with concern and a smile. He enjoyed being at CP and was living his best life. He loved to talk about visiting Boone and eating at the Daniel Boone Inn. I am grateful to have known him and thankful for his kindness and generosity. Rest in peace my friend, but I suspect that in heaven you are busy helping new arrivals and greeting them with a smile.

Tim was the light in each day here at Levine! I always chatted with him 1st thing in the morning and he heated up lunch right outside my office and I was always comment on how yummy lunch smelled. I miss him dearly and send my prayers and condolences to his family!

I am saddened by the loss of Mr. Strickland. He was kind and welcomed me to campus with "Good morning, how's it going".  When I first taught evening classes, Mr. Strickland would walk me to my car and reassure me, he would see me tomorrow. I appreciated the consistency of a familiar face on campus.

He was often the first face I would see in the morning (especially on Saturday), and the one person who would ensure that I left the campus promptly when it closed for my benefit and his (smile).

In fact, he would often walk by my office on Saturday, and remind me that I had 30-minutes left before the campus closed.

Sometimes he shared his upcoming plans with family for his days off and I could tell he enjoyed spending time with you. 

I know you suffered a great loss. May he rest in peace.

Officer Strickland was a fellow veteran who respected, loved and will miss. He always celebrate Veterans Day or any activities for veterans at the Levine campus in support.  He was kind, consistent and easy to listen to others. He had jokes to tell to put a smile on peoples faces. We salute you and you are missed. We are praying for your family.

Enjoyed working with Tim at CPCC.  Always had a good story and smile to share to kick off your day.  Tim is one of those rare people who made you feel at ease and who you quickly called a friend.  He will be forever missed.  Heartfelt prayers to his wife and family.

Tim was my training officer in 2005, and I worked with him until he retired.  I remember many times on our long 12 hour night shifts when I would hear Tim key up the mic and give out a random number.  “5”.  Or “3”.  This was in reference to how many deer he had seen while out on patrol.  Tim was a kind soul and a good guy.  My most sincere condolences to his family, and his wife, Lynn, whom he spoke so fondly and often of. 


I am Tim's youngest sibling and too many stories to tell; however, let me tell you one. Six  year old me, 17 year old Tim driving his green Buick station wagon in 1979/1980 to my clogging class in Brevard - Devil Went Down to Georgia on 8 track...Tim left hand on the wheel kinda leaning over to the right in the seat and he's singing but barely moving his lips "devil went down to GA he was looking for a soul to steal he was in a bind he was way behind...." you know the song. So he talk sings the first lyrics doing his best ventriloquist impersonation when we get to the crescendo part and all of a sudden, he who had barley moved a muscle goes to banging the dashboard scaring me into the passenger door. Then smiled that little smirk smile that was usually followed by "what"! One of my favorite stories to tell to people. Thank you Tim

I was so sorry to hear of Tim's passing. When others say that the Levine Campus will never be the same without Tim, they are so correct. When he would come down the hall, it was always good to hear Tim's cheerful  question asking "what's up"? His passing leaves an empty space in our lives, but his kindness still fills our hearts with fond memories.

Tim was the highlight of our hall at the Levine campus. He would arrive daily around 8:10 am for his morning rounds. He would stop by and check on us to see if we were ok and ask how our day was going. If we were out of the office, he knew and would check on us the next day.  He never complained when we had forgotten our office keys. When the school was closed for the pandemic, he continued to come and protect the campus.  When we returned he said he was so happy because he had missed us. He was a special friend who will be deeply missed. Thank you Tim for serving our country, our city, and the Levine Campus.  

Strickland would have me scratching my head so many times with his dry sense of humor, but always ended with laughter. Back when we hand wrote DMV 349’s I remember how meticulous he was with his drawing, but unless you had better than 20/20 vision, you couldn’t read his tiny writing. He got in a hurry for nothing, but always offered a lending hand to any officer in need. Rest easy Tim and thank you for your service! Prayers for his family ❤️

I would always beat Tim to work in the mornings,but it would be that one morning when he would beat me to work,he would be sitting in the office at the computer with his glasses on,and he would turn around in the chair,and look out the top of his glasses and say”You know that snooze button is optional don’t you???… I am going to miss the town meetings as ,Tim called them that we would have on a daily basis,Where we would sit and talk for about 10 minutes to catch up..Tim will always be my gentle giant as I called him,the campus will never be the same without Tim!!!..

Officer Strickland was the first person I spoke to on the Levine Campus when I came to see the office, and he was the last person I spoke to as I walked out on my last day. We talked often and I would bring snacks in just for him that I knew he liked. :) (He did not want tootsie rolls or lollipops, by the way, but he loved the beef jerky, crackers, and Little Debbies.) We talked about his time in the Military Service, is time on the Police force, his hunting, loving to decorate for Halloween, his Sweetie that he wanted to retire with and relocate to the mountains (possibly the Smokies ), and him teaching me what to put in my yard to help make my yard enticing for deer because I just love to watch them. One of the last times we spent time together he said "I'm telling you how I feel because you're my friend." Well friend, I am so very sad for your family and friends. You have left a positive footprint in this messy world, thank you. 


     I worked with Tim in the late 80's at the Sheriff Dept. and Tim was a character, he always kept us laughing and could write smaller than anyone I knew. I enjoyed our hunting trips together. He will be missed. 

Tim I will always remember that smile and gently laugh of yours.  GOD SPEED BROTHER. 

I will miss Mr. Strickland's glowing face walking down the small hallway of the CCE department. He was always a joy to talk to and I will forever be grateful for those days he made sure my mother made it safely to her car on the late evenings she would work in Levine. My deepest condolences to the family. Inna illahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un, meaning 'Verily we belong to Allah, and verily to Him do we return.'' Keeping the family in my prayers. 

I worked with Tim for several years at the Charlotte airport I always enjoyed Tim great attitude 

I am so so sorry for your loss.  Tim was so kind.  He watched over us and I always appreciated his presence in and outside of the office.  He always stopped and talked to just about everyone in our office.  Every time he would see me in the hall he would always have something funny to say.  He will be missed.  Your family is in my prayers.



Lynne & family, my heart goes out to you. Tim was a wonderful, kind, fun spirited man. Our staff at Levine absolutely adored him, and looked forward to his daily visits. He always checked on us throughout the day. he was a friend and protector to all.  Our sweet Tim will be incredibly missed. My prayers go out to you. Lean into the spirit of the Lord, may he comfort you. 

I was so sorry to hear about Tim.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you.  I know he will be missed.  He is a great guy and it was always a pleasure to work with him.  God Bless you.  You and Tim are in our prayers.
