Christine S. Smith

Christine Shrum Smith of Charlotte, NC, died Tuesday October 27, 2015 at her home. Funeral services will be held at Sharon Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 31, at 1:00 pm. Her family will receive friends one hour prior, with Rev. Ron Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith, a native of Lincolnton, NC, was born to the late Gustus Falls Shrum and Choyce Martin Shrum. She graduated from Thomasboro High School and Geyer Business College. She retired after 24 ½ years with International Harvester Co., and 6 years with Homelite/Textron. She has been a member of Sharon Presbyterian Church for more than 65 years. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Claude, Lloyd, and Weldon Shrum, and a sister Margaret Shrum Helms. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Fred Smith, and her son Darrell K. Smith and wife Odette of Charlotte, 2 granddaughters, Stephanie and Katherine Smith, sisters Thelma Porter of Charlotte and Dorothy Williams of Panama City Beach, FL; brothers Ray Shrum (Lee) of Charlotte, and Russell Shrum (Ruth) of Raleigh, NC; 3 sisters-in-law, Elsie Shrum of Conyers, GA, Nancy Shrum of Charlotte, and Polly Lowe of Belmont, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
