Charlotte Pope Young

Charlotte Pope Young, age 79, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully and at peace on Friday, October 6, 2023. Born December 12, 1943 in Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of Jesse B. and Ruby (Turner) Pope. She married the love of her life, Louie Kent Young, on June 30, 1968 in Charlotte, NC.

A graduate of Harding High School, Charlotte went on to further her education at Appalachian State University where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She went on to obtain her Master's Degree in Education from Western Carolina University.

For 30 years she taught in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and retired "After teaching everything she knew."

An avid Elvis Presley fan, she was a member of several local Elvis and Rock-n-Roll Oldies Clubs. She was also an active member at Levine Senior Center in Matthews, NC. She loved visiting the beach, mountains, painting, traveling with friends and spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Brian (Diana) and Scott (Brooke) Young; grandchildren, Alyssa, Dylan, Hannah and Bradley Young; sisters, Joy Murray and Patsy (Cleve) Woolard; numerous nieces and nephews.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, parents and her brothers, Barry and Gary Pope.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 10:00 until 11:30 AM at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. Funeral service 11:30 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery immediately following service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be given to Levine Senior Center, 1050 DeVore Lane, Matthews, NC 28105.
