Charles A. “Charlie” Moore, age 49, of Mint Hill, NC, was swept up into the arms of Jesus following a brief battle with cancer on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at the Carolinas Medical Center-Main in Charlotte.
He was born in Muenchweiler, Germany, on Sept. 1, 1961, to the late Joseph Albert Moore and Waltraud Anna Stengel Moore.
Charles graduated from Independence High School in 1979. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a BA degree in chemical engineering. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi.
Following college, he worked for Ethyl Corp. in Orangeburg, SC and later for Celanese in Rockhill, SC. He was working as Senior Chief Processing Engineer for Midrex Technologies in Charlotte. He worked with the designing of steel plants.
He married his high school sweetheart, Susan Sasser, on Jan. 21, 1984, at Arlington Baptist Church in Mint Hill. Following marriage, the couple resided in Raleigh, NC, Orangeburg, SC, and presently in Mint Hill.
Mr. Moore was presently an active member of Arlington Baptist Church and was a charter member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICHE).
Charles was a loving Christian, husband, Daddy, son, and brother and a wonderful son-in-law and brother-in-law. He was a humble, sweet gentle man who was always thinking of others before himself. He always saw things clearly and was organized in all things that he sought to accomplish. He pursued righteousness, godliness, faith, love, and patience. Charles lived by faith in the Son of God and gained his strength for life from the Lord. He was filled with the spirit of God, in wisdom, understanding, and knowledge.
He enjoyed sports in general, fishing, coin collecting, and all of life’s activities with his wife, children, and others.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 27 years, Susan Sasser Moore and his loving children, Heather Ruth Moore and Stephen Daniel Moore, all of Mint Hill; his grandson, Aiden Gabriel Plyler, Mint Hill; his mother, Waltraud Anna Stengel Moore, Charlotte; his sister, Regina and husband Daniel Hunter, Hemby Bridge, NC; his uncle, Thomas Moore, Johnson City, TN; and his aunt, Gerlinda Barria, El Paso, TX; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father.
His family will receive friends on Sunday, May 8, 2011, from 1:30-3 pm at the Arlington Baptist Church, 9801 Arlington Church Rd., Mint Hill, NC, followed by a celebration of his life at 3 pm. The Reverend Dr. Steve Gandy will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
