She was born September 28, 1942 and went to her eternal home on March 21st, 2025. Her parents were Melvin Cleveland Aumiller and Eloise Myrtle Aumiller (Griffith). She is survived by her brother Michael L. Aumiller (Karen). She was preceded in death by her brother Melvin D. Aumiller and sister Melinda A. Barnes. Husband Calvin L Dillard preceded her in death in 2001.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter Deborah C. Richter (Steve) and son Stephen A. Moore (Angela) and grandsons Russell A. Richter (Holly), Derek S Richter (Kaitlyn) and great grandchildren McKenzie and Connor. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn lived in Richmond, Virginia for many years working and living a full and fun life with the love of her life Calvin. They spent many weekends on the water of Lake Gaston. That is where she would reverse the hands of time by playing on jet skis, pontoon boats and even speed boats. Often saying it made her feel like a kid. After Calvin's passing she decided she wanted to move back to Charlotte to be around family and friends.
Carolyn was passionate about a lot of different things but especially family. She kept everyone informed of all things politically and personally. Celebrations of birthdays, decorating Christmas cookies, pumpkin carving and decorating for Christmas were some of her most favored. Carolyn loved football. Her love for the game began when she would watch her grandsons play. She always looked forward to Friday nights at the school games and pretty soon she was watching Sundays regularly. Snacks and dressing for her favorite team was the extra bonus she loved.
Carolyn enjoyed her life most when she was closely connected to church and community. The ministry she held so near and dear to her heart was the HUGS Ministry at Mill Grove Methodist Church. She had many friends within that ministry and she looked forward to each time they could gather together. She loved all things Elvis Pressley, Billy Graham, pocketbooks, jewelry, pretty clothes and makeup. When she entered a room she was sure to catch your eye as she was always dressed as she was going to see The King that day.
What she will be remembered for most is how one would feel while with her. Carolyn is gone but not forgotten. She will be missed dearly.
