Bill Ted Walker

Bill graduated from Kansas State University in 1953 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He married Elizabeth Anne Taylor (Betty) in 1954 and relocated to Big Spring, TX, where he served as a jet pilot instructor in the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge, Mr. Walker moved to Hickory, NC to work in the textile industry.

After a move to Charlotte, he earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1965, and was self employed as a manufacturer's rep in the castings industry until his passing.

Bill was a man of many interests and hobbies. He loved singing in the choir, and developed many close friendships with his fellow choir members. He cherished the monthly poker nights with his son and his buddies, and he loved the fellowship and competition with his weekly bridge group. Bill was a voracious reader and loved his morning crossword puzzles. He loved his family, especially his eight grandchildren, who he was immensely proud of. Bill was a true friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Betty Taylor Walker. He is survived by a son, Wynn Taylor Walker, and two daughters, Willow Walker Rockecharlie, and Wendy Walker Wylie of Charlotte; sons and daughter-in-law, Linda Pinkleton Walker, W. Phillip Rockecharlie and John Gregory Wylie; and eight grandchildren, Chris Walker, Sarah Walker Miranda and husband Chris, Walker and Morgan Wylie, and Ryan, Taylor, Hannah and Hayden Rockecharlie.

Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, 500 Providence Road, on Tuesday, September 2. A service in celebration of the life of Bill Walker will be held on Wednesday, September 3, at 2:00 p.m., at Myers Park Presbyterian Church, 2501 Oxford Place, Charlotte. The family will receive friends in Oxford Hall following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to a charity of personal choice.
