Our mom loved the ocean. Beach trips brought her joy and respite. And I think I can say having her family at the beach all together we’re some of her favorite days. Those summer beach trip’s definitely hold some of my most fond memories with her and our family. But she didn’t care too much for the smell of fish to say the least. Ha! Dad loves fish and mom loved dad so she let him have his fish. She loved to float in the waves and soak in the sunshine. Weightless she’d feel in the water. Yet a heart full of joy and love. I loved when we’d go inside from be out in the sun and she’d smell my hair and say, “mmm I love the smell of sunshine on you”. The ocean is a constant on this earth just as the love my mom had for her family. 

Our mom was the most  selfless, empathetic, outgoing, loving person I have ever known. I always envied her outgoing and fearless nature. She would jump into something with the expectation that she would learn it along the way, whereas I always feel the need to be prepared before jumping in. She always thought of others before herself even when she was so sick she would start off the conversation with a sincere “How are YOU?”.  Her empathy knew no bounds. She would rejoice and hurt with family members of family members of family members friends once removed. Lastly, and most importantly, she loved fiercely! She kept track of and shared all the trials and victories of her immediate and extended family, often with a “that’s not mine to share”. 

Our mom loved to talk. She would start a conversation with any one , any where, at any time. If they stuck around for the conversation she was going to bring up something she loved more…her family.  Her family was her pride and joy. Be that her parents that she was infinitely proud of, or her sisters where she told tales of annoying them just for a rise. But there was a special twinkle in her eyes if she could tell you about her three sons. She loved to use her short stature as a way to tell you about her sons. “ I used to be much taller, but I gave all my height to my sons!”

Betty and I worked together for years at novant. She always came to work with a smile and would say " Jennifer I am so happy to work with you tonight." She loved helping people and all of her patients.  Betty will always be remembered as a caring , kind , and loving friend to all of us who worked with her at novant . ❤️

I had the privilege of working with Betty for the past four years, both of us having many year of nursing under our belt.  Her precious sweet smile was such a welcome site each morning when I arrived at the call center.  We would bounce the unknown answers off each other and usually had the same answer for our question.  She spoke so very fondly of her family and would ask me to pray for certain needs because she knew I would sincerely pray.  I truly loved her kind gracious spirit and I thank God our paths crossed, until we meet again,  love always, Kaye Morse coworker

Betty was an amazing lady. I never heard an ugly word from her, about anyone. She always had an encouraging word for anyone, and never met a stranger.  She loved her family, and would take every opportunity to tell everyone about them! I hope her family can find comfort in the fact that Betty is no longer hurting or suffering, from that dum disease, that she didn't deserve. She is with her friend and Savior, Jesus! I know you will miss her, like we do! Until we see you again, love and miss you, Betty.❤️

Me and Betty worked together for many many years. We shared so many conversation about Jesus! Me and her both loved to talk about our Heavenly Father. That is the greatest conversations a person can have.  We love sharing our family with each other.   I’m glad I had the chance to tell her I loved her. I will see you again my friend.  I’m truly missing you!

Ms.Betty would greet me on a daily basis when I got to work with a smile, how are you and a hug.  She always had an uplifting word of encouragement for whatever you were going through.  She shared many stories, memories, adventures, and pictures of her family with her work family.  I will miss our daily talks and the oh no is it really that late, ok just one more story. Followed by a hug goodbye. Ms. Betty you are the most amazing woman I have ever met, you have no idea how much you have touched so many lives.  Your laughter and love will be missed!

Betty hated it when I called her boxing Betty or little sister and has given me a piece of her mind on more than one occasion, but I loved her all the same and loved her all the time! I’ll miss you my friend. Rest in peace and be remembered in love.  Your Friend Joe!

The memories of my “other mom” are stoked anytime I hear music. When I was a kid (prior to meeting Kevin and Steve) I never thought of myself as musical. 

Betty, Kevin and Steve all taught me that music was in me. I had it, I just had to find it.

That was many years ago. To this day, I still play music, I’m an audio tech, I mix at church every week, the foundation of all of that is  1820 Lisbon Lane. Three smelly kids and a woman that loved LOVED music. 

Betty Naylor has been practicing being an Angel for as long as I’ve known her. Though I’m sad she’s left us, I have not a single doubt in my mind that she has joined the Angel Armies! She is singing now and forevermore!

Mama Naylor was the best! She welcomed me into her house like one of her own. She would take me shopping for my favorite cookies, she would try new recipies with me and let me make a mess of her kitchen. She would stay up talking with my while Kevin and Steve played Mario Cart until all hours of the night. I am so thankful for her example of child like faith, open arms and endless love. 
Thank you for always loving me and my family. We love you and are forever grateful for you.

Mrs. Betty omg so sweet and full of happiness and love.  It’s been about 2 years since we been in the office but we would laugh daily about my 3 sons. She would always ask me what they were doing each week and what story I had lol.  I went in the office a few months ago and seeing her brighten my day.  She gave me a big hug and told me how amazing I looked.  All I could think about is how I miss her smiling face and laughs in the office.  She will be missed!!!

We would always exchange pictures of my son and her beautiful grand babies. He face would just light up talking about them and her family. I worked with Betty at Novant, we mostly communicated by phone, since we were at different hospitals , but all working with the surgery patients. She was such a sweet kind person.  I always loved talking with her.  She always had a positive word and was always making sure she was doing the right thing! She will be greatly missed at Novant!

Betty was such a bright light to see coming in the morning at the office. She always had a smile and kind word. She loved being a nurse and always found the time to help when asked. She loved her family intensely. I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to know her. She will be truly missed at our work.

The Naylor household was always a welcoming place. Most days after school and after church, I would find myself at the Naylor house and it was always a treat if Betty was there. She just exuded joy and love. Anyone that entered could clearly feel the love that Betty had for her family and for all those around her.

Thank you, Betty for your hospitality and love. I will always remember the way I felt when I was in your home.

Mrs Betty was one of the sweetest, loving a caring person I know, it was a pleasure to work with her. She had the softest calming voice. When my brother passed she would not only ask how I'm doing but my mother also, even when was dealing with her sickness she would still ask about us. It was a pleasure knowing her and I'm thankful God gave me that chance.. I will miss you dearly 

Betty was very hospitable.  I remember when she would invite the high schoolers (and their parents) over on different occasions.  She loved her boys and that meant she loved their friends too.  Like Pastor Ben said, she was a good hugger and always had a smile and a kind word.  She will be missed.

We will miss seeing her step out of her white SUV to give us a very warm hello….how are you. She and Mr. Naylor looked out for out property which is across the street.  What a most loving soul. My wife and I are so happy to have known Betty and will hold memory of her in our hearts.

Mrs. Betty was one of the the kindest sweetest people I knew, she always prayed for me and my family, I knew if she said she was praying for me she really did it! She will be missed and her hugs!

Such a beautiful woman! She was always excited to tell us about her family and I feel like I know them personally from all the great stories. She would always say to me, “ Hey sunshine and pearls 🥰”! Because that’s what I said to her. She was a very spot in our days and in the office. She will truly be missed 

Betty was such an amazing and loving person. I know I said this during the service but if hugging  was an Olympic sport, I would nominate Betty to represent the United States. She always was kind and compassionate to anyone and everyone. We will miss her! 

She was a wonderful person, coworker, and friend. She taught me so much when I first started at Novant and always continued to be there any time I needed help. ❤️

I remember on the last day of school every year coming into the house and hearing schools out for summer blaring on the speakers! I also remember joking around in the kitchen til momma Naylor got in a giggle fit and Steve and I would try to keep it going. 
She will always hold a special place in my heart.


I didn’t know Betty very long but she was an amazing nurse. She cared so much about her patients and our nursing team. Her calls were always low numbers because she would spend so much time on the phone with each patient. She was a joy to be around and we will miss her so much. Even when she was sick she would still zoom into our huddles to touch base with the team.

Betty was truly one of the kindest souls I have ever met. She was an incredible nurse. She took such great care of her patients and she loved her teammates so much! Our team is completely heartbroken and we hope the Naylor family can find peace knowing how much she meant to all of us at Novant Health. Betty truly lit up a room. The joy on her face when she showed us updated pictures of her grandbabies was so incredibly pure and heartwarming. But that was Betty in general. She always warmed our hearts. We will miss her so much.  Wishing you all peace and comfort during this incredibly hard time.

Betty was my twin. As you can see we looked just alike). Maybe not on the outside but we always said we had twin hearts. We have laughed, prayed together, cried, encouraged one another, shared pictures of our grands, and talked sometimes for well over an hour after  work. You were more than a coworker. You were truly my friend/twin. To say I will miss you dearly is an understatement. I find comfort in knowing how much you loved God and your family. I pray your family will find comfort in knowing how thankful we are to have known and shared a little part of your life. An angel has gained her wings. Gonna miss you twin!
