Betty Jean Ensley, 90, ran to the arms of Jesus on March 3, 2023 at Clear Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. A Memorial Gathering will be at held McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel on Tuesday March 7, 2023 from 12pm to 3pm. Light refreshments will be served. Inurnment will be private.
Ms. Ensley was born on May 15, 1932 in Kannapolis, NC and was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, her mother, Robbie Maybel Ivey, grandparents, aunts, uncles, several brothers and sisters in law, her nieces, Cindy Roseman Barker and Toni Ratti and nephew, James Ensley.
Ms. Ensley was the manager’s secretary at Sears & Roebuck Co. in Charlotte for many years before becoming a stay-at-home mother. After returning to the workforce, she was the Training Officer for Sears at Eastland Mall and in sales at Hamricks in Matthews. She was a faithful member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church since 1965, a member of the Cokesbury Sunday School class and the United Women of Faith. She was an avid reader, loved politics and her sports!! But nothing gave her greater joy than her family.
She is survived by her children: Randy & Sabra Ensley, David & Susanne Ensley, Jennifer & Sean Scoggins. Grandchildren: Katie & Frank Evans, Mitch Ensley & fiance’ Charity Thomas, Mallory & Mason Anderson, Leslie & Alex Savard, Kade Scoggins & girlfriend Grace Gerwig, Cole Scoggins, Mary Beth Black & fiance’ Aaron Chesney, Great grandchildren: Gavin, Caleb & Abel Evans, Layla Susanne Savard, Wesley Anderson, Scarlett and Penelope Chesney. She is also survived by her little sister and best friend Marlene Roseman, sister in laws Mary Frances Carter and Lorna Ensley Winslet, many nieces and nephews, childhood best friend Donese Guthrie, her bridge club buddies Sarah Propes and Glenda Hilton and her Wednesday morning breakfast bunch Nancy Williams and Sue Sasser and her special angel Amy Gray Cunningham.
The family would like to thank Dr. Fisher, Sonal and staff of Frescenius Dialysis Center of Matthews for their loving care of mother, a special thank you to Dr. Tyler Thurman of Charlotte Hospitalist Group for being her special friend and Doctor and the nursing/therapy staff of Clear Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the love and care shown to mother over the last 4 months.
