Ann was born on June 12, 1933 in Charlotte as the only daughter of the late Henry Luther Todd and Annie Robinson Todd. Ann grew up on a local Charlotte dairy farm owned by her Grandfather Joseph H. Robinson, where she shared some of her fondest memories with her all her close Robinson, Todd, and Watkins cousins. Ann always had a deep routed thirst for knowledge and learning from her earliest days on that farm. With it, she excelled at Central High School as a member of the school’s National Honor Society, and then went on to earn a Bachelor of the Sciences degree from the Women’s College of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1955.
Upon graduating from the University, Ann married Tom, the love of her life, and soon proved herself to be the most the loving and caring mother of her two children, Marion and Todd. The joy of Ann’s life was certainly her family. She was the proud grandmother to Mary Elizabeth, Michael, and Catherine, and great-grandmother to Ella and Regan, who knew her affectionately as their “Annie”.
Ann was also an excellent athlete, and particularly enjoyed competing in both tennis and golf at Huntingtowne Farms and Carmel Country Club. She loved traveling with her husband, but cherished perhaps most of all to her were the family trips and times spent together at Linville Ridge and Debordieu.
Ann is survived by her husband, Thomas Joseph Crowley; son Dr. Todd Edward Crowley; daughter Marion Crowley Scherger; son-in-law Daniel Scherger; granddaughters Mary Elizabeth Scherger and Catherine Scherger Talley, and her husband Tanner Talley and their two daughters Ella and Regan; and grandson Michael Scherger and his fiancé Kelly Rudolph. Ann was also a devoted aunt to Ann Crowley, Prudy and Tim Kornegay, Katherine and Chris Dickson, Sean Crowley, Elizabeth and Robert Rudder, Michael Crowley, Patricia and Gibby Smith, and her brother-in-law, Bill Crowley.
A mass celebrating Ann’s life will be held at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at 11:30am. A visitation will precede the mass at 10:30am in the Church’s chapel. And a reception will follow the mass. Ann Todd Crowley’s internment will be at Sharon Memorial Park.
