Al honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, an experience that shaped much of his life. After returning home, he had a fulfilling career with the New York State Developmental Disabilities Service Office, where he worked for 39 years, making a positive impact on the lives of many.
In 2009, Al retired and relocated to Huntersville, NC, to be closer to his family. His move was a testament to the importance of family in his life, and he spent his retirement years enjoying the company of his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored.
Al is survived by his daughter Tami Puma, son-in-law Phil Puma, and his cherished grandchildren, Gianna and Matthew Puma, who reside in Cornelius, NC. He is also survived by his daughter Danielle Adew of Sunnyside, NY, and his sister Joan Davidson of Cumming, GA, his niece and nephew, several cousins, and several devoted friends.
Al was a proud father and grandfather, whose dedication to both his family and his work left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His lively personality, sense of humor, and commitment to those he loved will be deeply missed.
Funeral service for Al will be held Saturday, December 21, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC.
