It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother on November 7, 2024. She was born to the late Rose Emma and Jessie Bare on April 24, 1941.
The majority of her life was spent as a caregiver. She truly loved taking care of her elderly clients. She often grew very attached to them and some of their children remained in contact with her for many years after they no longer required her services. She was an amazing person with a true heart of gold. Her capacity for love and forgiveness knew no bounds. She was a hard-working woman who spent her life taking care of everyone; family, friends, neighbors, and strangers, sacrificing her own needs for everyone around her.
She had a great love for music, particularly bluegrass and the old country songs, and the music made her feet move. She loved going to bluegrass festivals and wasn’t shy about hopping up on a stage and dancing. Whether it be dancing to country music, clogging to bluegrass, or shagging to beach music, she loved it all. She could also tap dance and to watch her ballroom dancing on roller skates was a beautiful thing to see.
She had a lot of talents that not many people knew about and never gave herself credit for all the many gifts she had. She could play the drums and the mandolin. She could play tennis and she held the title of Ping Pong Champion at the local park when she was young.
She leaves behind her three children, Charlie “Pete” Anderson (Gina), Cynthia “Sissie” Meetze (Dale – deceased), and Crystal Renee Snelgrove (Mike); six grandchildren, Patti & Scott, Lisa & Casey, and Tabitha & Bud; six great-grandchildren; as well as one surviving sister, Shirley Marriott – Davis.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Lillian Faye Anderson; brothers, Jack Anderson and James Rufus Bare; and sister, Wilma Holbrook.
The thing that Tootsie was the best at was being our mother. All the struggles and sacrifices she made to give us a better life are too numerous to count. She was an angel on Earth, sent from God to touch the lives of everyone that knew her. We were so blessed that God chose her to be our mother. We will miss her every day.
There will be a visitation at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – Chapin Chapel, 123 Columbia Avenue, Chapin, SC 29036 on Thursday, November 14th, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A viewing will be held at Lewis Fork Baptist Church, 395 Lewis Fork Baptist Church Rd, Purlear, NC 28665, on Saturday, November 16th, 2024 at 1:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Velvet Chapman who was her caregiver for the past three years.
