He married the love of his life, Edythe Joanne in November 1966. They met while working at the Dixon Development Center.
He is preceded in death by his wife Edythe Joanne Wilson; parents Sterling and Anna (Shoemaker) Wilson; sister Joyce Cooper; and son, Duane Wilson.
Wes received his undergraduate degree from Bradley University, Peoria, IL; his master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI.
He worked for the State of Illinois at the Dixon Development Center and the Jack Mabley Center until he retired in 1992 after 30 years of service.
After retirement he moved to Arizona to be near his children and grandchildren.
He worked for the Foundation for Senior Living as a Program Manager for 10 years until he retired for the second time.
Wes loved to bowl! He was in bowling leagues in Dixon, IL and in Mesa, AZ. He bowled up until his illness.
He also played the piano. He is known for playing classical music and starting a song then stopping in the middle of it. He enjoyed being behind the camera creating memories for the rest of the family. He loved watching movies entirely too loud!
Wes was a member of the Sons of The American Legion Squadron 91, Chandler AZ.
Wes was a man of few words with a heard of gold.
Wes will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
He leaves behind one daughter Barbara (Glenn) White Chandler AZ., son Gary Wilson of Palm Springs, CA; son Mark Wilson of Chandler AZ.; two grandchildren, Bryan (Megan) White of Merrill, WI; Ashley White (Daniel Salaiz) of Mesa AZ.; and great-granddaughter, Madalyn of Mesa, AZ.
Arrangements for grave side service and internment in Dixon, IL are pending.
A memorial on his behalf can be sent to Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix AZ.
