One of my favorite times with my brother Richard was when he took me to  the Boy Scout Camp Boxwell TN,  
Being the youngest child in the family he possibly could have shown a little partially to me??
There at camp he let me make things with beads, feathers, leather etc. to keep me occupied.  I believe to this date this is why I am so proficient in crafts.
When going on my first cruise with my sister Ruby & husband Don, much to my surprise two weeks prior to leaving a letter arrived from Richard.  In the letter was a substantial check.  He wanted me to buy a special dress for the captain's dinner party.  He was so giving, thoughtful and caring.  I loved my brother and he will be sadly missed by us and many others.

I am the only brother left in our family, 
Richard was my buddy, pal and my friend.
One of my earliest memories growing up was wanting to learn to swim. I expressed this to Richard and he said let's go. He took  me to Sulphur Fork Creek  to an eight feet deep water hole, threw me in and said sink or swim and because of that I am a very good swimmer.
Richard was always pulling pranks on us .When I grew up I got even. We were fishing on Red River in a john boat and a large tree had fallen across the river. I could get under the tree with the boat but Richard could not because of a cast on his leg due to a fracture while playing baseball  When I looked back my first thought was to leave him hanging, I asked what he would give  me to come for him. He said not one word. I never let him forget this. I loved by brother

My brother Richard was a jokester, he would rather tease his brothers and sisters than do anything else, even when he was out of college and would come home on the weekends and find ways to get us all in trouble or get all but him in trouble. With seven of us, he was next to the oldest and at times thought he was our boss. When Richard came home all the neighborhood kids would gather around for some kind of ball game. Richard was one of the best basketball players at Greenbrier High School and was recognized as being an outstanding player. He went to college on a basketball scholarship. 
Richard came home often and we always had a reunion remembering all the good times we had. He was a good brother and we are so proud of his accomplishments. He will be missed, we loved him dearly,
 Our son Dale Templeton thought Richard was unbelievable.  All the trips to Alaska opened a whole new world for him. Richard was his own fishing guide. He took our son and many doctors that 
Dale worked with. Dale always gave so much  praise and credit to his Uncle 
Richard.
If there are rivers, oceans, land and sea in heaven, then they are both hunting or fishing for salmon or halibut.

Dear Rhoda,

I can only offer my deepest condolences on your loss. I was quite saddened to hear of Richards passing. Perhaps you best remember me as Richard Harringtons son as opposed to Richard Parkers friend. I consider him one of the finest gentleman and for sure the best outdoorsman I have ever met.

I am fortunate to have many great memories of the times Richard and I got to spent together. I was privileged to go on a couple of those trips to Alaska with him He taught me how to catch those salmons amongst many other things. Seeing the Northern lights so vividly, having wolves howling and running circles outside our tent all night. Lots to remember over the years.  Above all, I will always remember Richard as a great mentor and friend. He was special. I'm sorry for your loss.

Met Richard when I was a brand new DE and he was our area director.  He was always a friend, mentor, guide during my Scouting career.  He was an example of a Good Scout.  I always remember his warm greetings with that Southern drawl.  He had a way of making others feel good.  Those of us who worked with him were fortunate indeed.  Rhoda, our sympathy and prayers.

Aunt Rhoda, both Maralee and I are so sorry to hear about Richard.  Mom and Dad always spoke so highly of him and the fun they had visiting.  You and the family are in our prayers, love David and Maralee.

Rhoda we were sadden to learn of Richard's death. I have many fond memories of our time together on the Western Region staff. You just can't think of Richard without gaining a smile. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of sorrow.

So sorry to hear of Richards passing. He was THE BEST boss ever. He always did things in grand style and encouraged me to do the same. He will definitely be missed.

He was a special man and I loved how wonderful he treated you Rhoda.  I'm so very sorry for your loss.  I know his passing leaves a huge hole in your heart.   My prayers are with you. Love, Judy

Sorry for your loss Rhoda.  We enjoyed our conversations with Richard and will miss him at the games.  He was a very knowledgeable and astute baseball fan.

Dear Rhoda,  Both Alan and I are so sorry you have to say 'Good-bye' to your other half.  When the 2 of you came to MA and we took you around the area, we could see how attentive Richard was with you. Dear Rhoda, Dolores and I were so shocked and so very sorry. Richard was such a fine gentleman, dignified and so, obviously, concerned about others. DBacks games will never be the same. Again, we are so very sorry for your tremendous loss. May he blessed by our Lord  and Savior and rest in peace on the Big Baseball Diamond in the Heaven.
