He was the oldest of 8 children. He lived in many places throughout Arizona but also spent some time calling Alameda, California his home before he returned to Arizona. He graduated from Mesa Union High School on the 29th of May 1943, and then immediately left for San Diego to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Navy. He served during 3 different wars; World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer 1st class.
Lloyd married Jean Mary Molitor on the 4th of November, 1946. They had 6 children: the late John Hancock (Brenda Hancock), Pam Smith (the late Randy Smith), Tom Hancock, Jake Hancock, Becka Ward, and Carol Young (Jeff Young). He was a wonderful husband, father and grandpa, and will be greatly missed by all.
Lloyd was a hard worker and had many jobs. The main one was with the United States Postal Service, where he retired as a Postmaster.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; son, John; 3 brothers: Glen, Eddie, Bruce; 1 sister, Fay, and son-in-law Randy Smith. He is survived by 5 of his children and 3 sisters: Gertrude, Janet and Joanne. He was Grandpa to 25 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and had 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on the 23rd of December at 10:30am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Building at 1050 S. Hobson, Mesa, Arizona with a viewing prior from 9:30 to 10:30am. Lloyd will be buried with Military Honors at 1:00pm at the Valley of the Sun Memorial Park, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, Arizona.
